Do you want to celebrate Photography? Yes you heard it right!!
World Photography Day is all about celebrating photography. Whether you see yourself as an Amateur, Hobbyist or Professional, August 19th is a day to embrace your love of photography.

"Photography" is derived from the Greek words photos ("light") and graphein ("to draw") The word was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839. It is a method of recording images by the action of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material.
World Photography Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic processes developed by Joseph Nicèphore Nièpce and Louis Daguerre. On January 9, 1839, The French Academy of Sciences announced the daguerreotype process. A few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift “Free to the World”. Another photographic processes, the Calotype, was also invented in 1839 by William Fox Talbot (it was announced in 1841). Together, the invention of both the Daguerreotype and Calotype mark 1839 as the year that photography was invented. (Source: Wikipedia)
Over 170 years later, we have chosen this date, August 19th to celebrate photography, Its past, present and future, technologically and artistically.
It’s hard to believe photography didn’t exist 200 years ago. All of the hundreds of thousands of fleeting moments we capture today and take so much for granted, our not-so-distant ancestors were unable to do. They never knew the joy of looking at photo albums of weddings, birthdays, births, and just everyday life. Today there are very few special moments in our lives that are not captured by a camera of one form or another.
Have you ever stopped to think about what your life would be like without photography? I have. I’ve wondered what the world would be like if we didn’t have images surrounding us constantly. To not have the photos on my walls or not be able to show our next generation, photos of their great-grandparents, our life is half gone. Photography began to show the world that art was more than just capturing reality.
In 2009, Korske, a passionate young photographer from Australia launched the world photography day project and hosted its first global online gallery on August 19th 2010. This website world photography day and the project Korske started, is igniting and inspiring the existing passion of photographers across the globe.
One photographer. One lens. One camera. One angle. One moment. Once you miss it, it is gone forever.
SO TAKE A PHOTO, IT LASTS LONGER!!!
