Things You Must Know About Mineral Makeup
If you are planning to use mineral makeup, here's what you must know about it...
HEALTHY
Pure mineral makeup binds to oils not water. This provides the makeup a natural water resistance and is way better for your skin than conventional cosmetics. Conventional makeup contains chemicals, oils and other additives that can either irritate sensitive skin or cause unnecessary breakouts. Makeup is actually good for people to wear, as long as they are not wearing products harmful to their skin. Most of the cheaper foundations on the market have a list of ingredients that potentially harmful to your skin. Mineral makeup is the safest because it adheres to the natural oils in a person's skin and doesn't seep into the pores. Makeup acts as a protecting agent against free radicals. Almost any barrier between your skin and the environment is good, so long as it's still letting your skin breathe, which most makeup doesn't. Mineral foundation allows your skin to breathe while still offering protection. Because of the use of titanium dioxide in most mineral products, it's also an excellent SPF. You can't beat a makeup that works with your natural body chemistry.
VERSATILITY
When mineral makeup is done right, it is much more versatile than most makeup. You can mix the mineral foundation with water, moisturizers and cremes to make a liquid foundation consistency if that's what you like. You can conceal with it or just use it as a light coverage. Loose powder mineral pigments can turn into anything you can think of. The loose powder pigments are what companies use to color cosmetics. Nature's Source carries these loose powder pigments with no additives, fillers, or dyes. It can be used as eye shadow, eyeliner, lip gloss, hair highlights, colored mascara, nail polish, body shimmer, blush, etc. When working with the pure pigment it blends with almost anything.
QUALITY
Mineral cosmetics should have very few ingredients. Most mineral makeup has a base ingredient of mica. Mica does have a nemesis in the cosmetic industry, the nemesis is named "talc." Do beware that talc is technically a mineral and used by almost every cosmetic company as their #1 ingredient, however it is a cheap and wasteful filler. Talc is soft and appealing to the touch yet it's adherence to the skin is incomparable to the elite mineral, mica. Mica has incredible skin adhering properties and is less cakey then talc. Mineral formulations do vary from company to company, researching the ingredients a company may use is very important because there are many companies on the market sneaking talc into their formulations. When you do find that perfect mineral foundation it's almost impossible to go back to conventional makeup.
LONG LASTING
Mineral makeup is not only long lasting on your shelf but also on your skin. The pigment lasts a long time and a little goes a long way. With mineral foundation, using very little can give a basic coverage. For extra coverage, after lightly applying the mineral base, women can use a more concentrated amount of foundation to conceal the areas that may need special attention. This makes mineral makeup last a lot longer on your skin.
why every woman should use mineral makeup?
IT'S GOOD FOR ACNE
Mineral makeup is actually good for your skin as opposed to normal makeup. Mineral makeup does not consist of any bacterial growth which leads to the buildup of acne. It also does not irritate your skin and enhances your complexion too.
Great for oily skin: Those with sensitive and oily skin can use mineral products because it gives smoothness to your complexion and also stays on for a longer duration.
Some people have thought that mineral makeup is
too dry for already dry skin. This just isn’t so. If you start by
applying a moisturizer to your face, mineral makeup will adhere just
fine. Some companies even make a hydration spray to use after
application.
APPLY IT WET
Did you know that you can pat some mineral powder on a wet tissue and apply it on your face as a liquid foundation? Applying it wet makes your skin look even more smoother as opposed to applying it directly on your face. You can also do this by mixing the powder with a little bit of water, moisturizer or primer. Like I said before, the options really are endless with mineral makeup.
MIXING SHADES
I have found that I can get an easy match to my skin tone by mixing a couple of different shades together. It seems to be more successful and less wasteful than when I try to mix together liquid foundations. I love that I can get a custom color that matches my tone perfectly.
APPLICATION
Many women get confused on how exactly to apply mineral foundations. No worries. You want to use a brush to buff in the powder using a downward stroke. Some think it is good to swirl all over the face but that actually causes the little hairs on your skin to stand and pick up more powder and pigment. By applying in a downward motion you are moving in the direction of the hairs and blending into the skin.
MIX IT UP
Since everything is a powder, you can use it how you want. My favorite bronzer is actually a mineral eyeshadow. Some of my mineral blushes double as eye shadows. With mineral makeup the options are endless.
Another reason to read the ingredients list to check for harmful minerals. Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it is good for you. Bismuth oxy chloride is one such mineral. Most mineral makeup companies have removed it from their products after many customers were experiencing allergic reactions.

NATURAL HEALTHY MINERAL MAKEUP
Many cosmetic companies have come
out with new mineral lines of makeup in recent years. And though most
women know that mineral cosmetics are all-natural and good for their
skin, some women are still hesitant to make the switch from traditional
cosmetics.HEALTHY

SHELF LIFE
Most
pure mineral makeup has a very long and stable shelf life. Everyone
wants to have their makeup collection without having to worry about
throwing items out because they have gone bad. Some women don't like
wearing foundation everyday, they want to have something that they don't
have to throw away after spending good money on it. Most companies put
fillers and additives in their products for that exact reason ... to
make you use them up quicker, or make them go bad faster. Mineral makeup
is simple and inert, it does not harbor bacteria because there is no
organic material in it for the bacteria to grow. It is beautiful and
comforting to know the same simplicity is on your face.QUALITY

NATURAL SUNSCREEN
Probably one of the best things about using mineral makeup is that it serves as a natural sunscreen, i.e. you don't have to apply a sunscreen additionally before you step outside your house. Most all mineral makeup contains titanium dioxide and zinc
oxide. These are well known for their UV ray fighting potential.APPLY IT WET

SOME MINERALS ARE BAD
Unfortunately, not all mineral makeup is
purely mineral. Many contain fillers. Even brands with labels that read
“contains 100% minerals” are misleading. All that label means is that
the mineral in the product are 100% pure, but the product itself may
contain other ingredients. Read the list and double check for yourself.Another reason to read the ingredients list to check for harmful minerals.
