Phaneesh Murthy Story
Phaneesh Murthy is an Indian technology businessman. He is an MBA graduate from IIM and received B.tech degree from IIT. After graduating he started working with Infosys and gradually progressed his career within the company and later in 2002, he was made Director of Infosys in 2002. After leaving Infosys in 2003, he became the CEO of iGATE in 2003.he acquisition deal with double the size of iGate company Patni Computer Systems made igate oone of the largest IT companies in India.
Murthy faced a sexual harrassement lawsuit while being in Infosys, which was filed by his former executive secretary Reka Maximovitch, a Bulgarian American nativity. The company settled out of court by paying $3 million in 2003.
Ten years after he paid the price, Phaneesh Murthy is in news for the same misstep- an irrelevant relation in workplace. After an impressive comeback from the lost track, this is the second time he has been forced to resign on this charge and this mistake would not only cost his job but his reputation and career too.
In conference call with media, Murthy claimed that the charges against me was an extortion attempt and the same lawyer was involved who represented ten years back.
"Recently, I learnt that a lady called Araceli Roiz, who is the investor relations head of iGate, has filed charges against me claiming sexual harassement. She has not filed any case in a court. She just sent a letter to the company, claiming sexual harassement. I do believe the charges are completely false. but it is pursuant to a relationship I had with her" he said.
"The investigation, which was ongoing, has reached the finding that Murthy's failure to report this relationship violated iGate's policy, as well as murthy's employment contract" said the company statement.
However, Murthy claimed that he had informed co-chairman of iGate Sunil Wadhwani about the relation and had not violated the company's policy.
