Do you happen to read my old post which was discussed before the release of Micromax canvas 4?

We have tossed around the expected specifications and features of yet to release Micromax Canvas 4 but now it has launched officially so, let us go through the actual specifications and features:
Micromax being an Indian handset maker and known for rolling out budget phones, has taken on technology giant Samsung with its latest smartphone Canvas 4. Micromax had launched its new smartphone Canvas 4 in June and has been officially hit in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 17,999, which was not expected.
The phone comes with a 5.0-inch HD (720x1280) display and powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor alongside 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. You can expand the storage by adding microSD cards up to 32GB
It comes with a 13 megapixel primary camera and a 5 megapixel front camera and phone also lets you shoot 1080p videos. Its 13 megapixel camera captures decent photographs and the burst shot mode lets you capture up to 99 photos in less than 15 seconds and allows you to choose the best one.
Canvas 4 is also slimmer and more compact compared to Canvas HD despite packing in a 5-inch screen.
The quality of the screen used on Canvas 4 seems to be slightly better than the one found in Canvas HD. Even though resolution is same, the screen on the new Canvas shows slightly better and punchier colours which is  responsive and smooth to navigate.
The smartphone has a few gesture functions like the flip-to-mute a call which is when the phone rings, users can flip the phone to silence the ringtone.
It can also automatically make calls by holding the phone to ear, while on a call the Canvas 4 turns loudspeaker on when the smartphone is flipped

Another addition to the technology is 'fly kiss-to-unlock'. Users can unlock the Canvas 4's screen by blowing air on the screen or shaking.
It runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. Connectivity options include WI-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and Micro-USB.
Canvas 4 is powered by a 2,000mAH battery.
The phone also offers some smart features including a pop-up play like video player allowing users to simultaneously view videos while doing other tasks which is multitasking.
The phone also offer automatic pausing of videos when you look away from the screen similar to S4.
Micromax Canvas 4 will come with a new cover worth Rs.3,000, that will allow the use of the phone even when the screen is covered.

Micromax Canvas 4 key specifications

  • 1.2GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB
  • 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera.
    Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean

As far as features and specifications are concerned, Micromax Canvas 4 though hyped as a competitor to the S4 isn't exactly that. Without any doubt, Galaxy S4 is way ahead of the Canvas 4. But the main factor in this comparison is the price tag of the respective handsets and value for the money. Canvas 4 is available for Rs.18,000 wherein the S4 comes for about Rs.39,500.

Considering the price factor, Micromax Canvas 4 offers great features and people who are brushed off from Galaxy S4 for its expensiveness may look towards Canvas 4.

In a price-sensitive emerging market like India, Canvas 4 is likely to figure somewhere in the race.
